My thirteenth week of half marathon preparation

The 13th and penultimate week is behind me. And now I can really say that the excitement is rising. In a week's time we will see whether my plan has worked. The plan that I have been following for so long now. The plan that I have followed completely. I haven't missed a single training session and I haven't had any serious injuries or illnesses. At least not so bad that I couldn't train. I am very proud of myself and my body for rocking it!

This week I also did the training as normal. With the support of magnesium. But more as a preventative measure and for better regeneration. I don't want to take any more risks now! This week was also much better than the previous week. My heart rate didn't go up so fast and the training felt better.

But the next week will be a bit different. Actually, I should reduce my running training considerably to have enough strength for Sunday. But that will be very difficult for me. But I will try. But I will definitely pause the strength training. Of course, that also drains the energy stores. In addition, I don't want to risk any more muscle soreness. Because no matter where it is, it means work and energy for the body. It has to restore the damaged structures. So saving energy in a double sense. In addition, I will drink beetroot juice next week. It doesn't taste good at all, but it helps. Or at least the thought of it. The reason for an increase in performance is supposed to be the nitrate it contains. This is converted to nitrite in the body and releases oxygen in the process. In addition, nitrate dilates the blood vessels and thus allows more blood to flow.

Other than that, the plan for next week is to make sure I get enough rest and regeneration (which I'm super good at...) and to keep myself distracted so I don't go crazy. And then everything will be fine. For sure!
